Dental implants offer a permanent solution for your missing teeth. A dental implant is essentially a substitute for a natural root and commonly it is screw or cylinder shaped. Each implant is placed into a socket carefully drilled at the precise location of the intended tooth. Often the implant can be placed at the same time as removal of the tooth, all on the same day.
If an implant has a screw-thread on its outer surface it can be screwed into position and if it does not, it is usually tapped into place. The main aim during installation of any implant is to achieve immediate close contact with the surrounding bone. This creates an initial stability, which over time is steadily enhanced by further growth of bone into microscopic roughness on the implant surface.
In order to support replacement teeth, dental implants normally have some form of internal screw thread or post space that allows a variety of components to be fitted. Once fitted, these components provide the foundation for long-term support of crowns, bridges or dentures. Click here for illustrated information.
Our in-house dental implant team which includes Amit, work together to provide high quality implant care.
Dental implants can be used to replace single missing teeth, multiple missing teeth or a full arch of missing teeth. They can even be used to help stabilise dentures.
Say goodbye to dentures.... Teeth in a day!
If you are missing all or many of your teeth we can give you fixed teeth in a day!
If you are a denture wearer you may have experienced a common problem of loose fitting dentures. This can cause pain in your gums and also can make it difficult to eat food comfortably. As a result you may find yourself limited to what you can eat. Your self confidence may also be affected if you feel your dentures moving when you talk.
The all on 4 dental implant solution is a revolutionary concept for giving you a complete set of fixed teeth in your mouth. The all on 4 dental implant solution has been developed to minimize the number of implants and steps required with replacing all of the teeth in one of your jaws. By reducing the number of dental implants and steps the costs of treatment can also be reduced.
Everyone mouth is different and there are several options available so to give an exact cost we need to carry out an assessment.
As an indication:
Placement of 4 implants and a fixed set of teeth (upper or lower) from £15000
To replace all of your missing teeth, previously it would have been common to place 8 to 10 implants per jaw and many times extra surgery such as bone grafts or sinus lifts would be needed. The all on 4 dental implant technique uses the dense bone in the front of your mouth to strategically place 4 implants. 2 of the dental implants are placed at clever angles and so in most cases can avoid any additional surgery.
The planning for this procedure can take several weeks and usually involves taking x-rays and sometimes a CT scan also. Once fully planned the actual procedure can be completed in one day and is also known as 'teeth in a day' or 'same day teeth'. After the implants are placed a provisional set of teeth are attached allowing you to eat and smile straight away. These teeth can be adjusted and modified to ensure that we get the exact appearance that you want and also allows time for healing. After a healing period of 3-6 months your final teeth are constructed and fitted once the dental implants are fully integrated into your bone.
The All-on-4 concept is an innovative concept allowing people with no teeth to have fixed teeth that look and function like natural teeth in only one day. We can give you beautiful new teeth in just one visit.
I have had three implants in my bottom set of teeth. The procedure to have three implants was an initial check by my dentist Amit, followed by an x-ray of the bone structure at Ashford Hospital to assess bone density. This was followed by a viability assessment carried out by Amit.
Verbal advice was given by the surgeon on options available followed by a written evaluation. Amit then prepared a financial breakdown of the costs of the procedure for me to consider. After deciding on treatment I had the three titanium implants set in the bone by the surgeon.
Three months later the surgeon located the implants, tested their robustness and covered these with small metal caps. A few weeks later an impression of the bottom teeth was made for the crowns which were subsequently fitted. A follow up inspection of the teeth was carried out a month later.
Throughout the whole procedure Amit were very professional and showed considerable sensitivity and care in their work.
I am very pleased that I decided to have the work done and I am realising the considerable benefits to the quality of life it has brought.
I had a local anaesthetic, each step fully explained with just minor discomfort and no complications. I am very pleased with both the service provided, and my replacement tooth.
From the initial discussions with Amit and his colleagues, everything was always explained in full to me regarding the possible treatments and options available. The options were meticulously followed up on and initially detailed in writing, and any questions I had, were fully answered and the alternatives explained. Once my course of treatment had been decided upon, the service I received was first class.
.... Almost inevitably some of the treatment was painful, but if this occurred whilst I was in the dentist's chair, it was always momentarily stopped for recovery to occur and alternative treatments offered where possible. In addition, advice and treatments for possible pain after visits were always also fully explained.
The professional and respectful way I was treated throughout, made the experience as pleasant as possible, and back up advice was always provided if needed. I am very pleased with the results and would have no hesitation in recommending Dr Dodia and his team to anyone thinking of having an implant.
I am writing to record my appreciation of my recent treatment for a dental implant.
I was treated in a courteous and considerate manner by all the team and was consulted and well briefed as to the treatment I was to receive.
All went according to plan and the result is most successful. Thank you to Amit and dental nurses, I would certainly recommend the procedure to anyone in a similar situation.
I wish to say that I am so pleased and happy with the results of having my implants put in…. I was very worried and apprehensive about having the treatment as being 84 years of age; I have had horrible and painful experiences at Dentists over the years.
I would like to thank Amit, technicians and nurses for their gentleness and kindness to me. I would like to say if you have the choice to have implants GO AHEAD!!
